Cross cutting areas of research

The projects that fall under the four research themes are supported by these additional projects, studies and trials which provide scientific validation and benefit across more than one project.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacovigilance

The Safety Working Group coordinates the centralised trial safety monitoring. The Group’s role is to collate safety information from the various trials centrally in order to continuously monitor safety and detect safety signals in a timely manner.

Pathogenesis and Immunity

This activity has four components, each designed to augment our understanding of the impact of malaria in pregnancy on maternal health, and the impact of our interventions on the burden of disease.

Capacity Development

The Malaria in Pregnancy Consortium has identified a research strategy that could lead to significant improvements in maternal and child health in malaria endemic regions.
